DCCS conducts research in Computer Science while offering events/resources in gaming for DePaul students.

There have been multiple task variations identified as having an effect on children’s performance on the DCCS test of cognitive flexibility or set-shifting. Of particular note is how sinks in restrooms and DCC size were linked with higher rates of HFMD cases.

Education

DCCS provides an expansive curriculum of courses leading to Associate Degrees and Certificates. Courses are delivered both traditionally classroom style as well as virtually via virtual learning environments, or they may take place at one of our many community outreach sites throughout the region.

Students learn to think critically and broadly, combining liberal arts education with taking action and creating solutions that have an impact on society. This distinctive combination of academic study and applied and innovative learning exemplifies our core value of scholarship.

The College offers several undergraduate programs in Computer Science, Computational Math and Information Systems as well as graduate degree programs that grant M.Sc and Ph.D degrees. Its undergraduate program was recognized by Brazil’s Ministry of Education as being among the five best offerings of its type; while its graduate offerings are among the best available.

Additionally, the College offers various certificates and diplomas in subjects such as Information Technology (IT), Business, Applied Mathematics and Engineering. Students may choose among a range of minors and concentrations such as Accounting, Web Development and Cybersecurity.

Students can find the support necessary for success through student organizations, tutoring services and peer mentoring. Furthermore, leadership development can be achieved through participating in Honors and Scholars programs, student government elections or community service activities.

DCC encourages entrepreneurialism through the establishment of start-up companies by professors and students, such as Akwan Information Technologies in Web searching and Miner Technology Group in data mining.

DCC’s main campus is situated in Poughkeepsie and boasts an innovative extension site in Fishkill. Both campuses can easily be reached by car and public transit – indeed Dutchess County buses stop right on campus!

DCC maintains instructional sites throughout Dutchess and Putnam Counties in addition to its main campus in Poughkeepsie, including a state-of-the-art Aviation Education Center at Hudson Valley Regional Airport in Wappingers Falls; ESL/HSE courses offered throughout Dutchess County; as well as DCC @ Fishkill on Route 9 in Fishkill. During academic year students also have access to state-of-the-art Aviation Education Center located at Hudson Valley Regional Airport as well as state-of-the-art Aviation Education Center located at Hudson Valley Regional Airport as well as ESL/HSE courses offered at multiple locations within Dutchess/Putnam counties as state-of-the-art DCC @ Fishkill on Route 9.

Entrepreneurship

Starting a business can be intimidating, but DCCH provides classes, workshops and hackathons designed to foster entrepreneurial development from idea through product, funding and growth. DCCH also supports small business owners and entrepreneurs through annual programming grants and direct support; since 2016, these include Aspire to Entrepreneurship incubator program; Opportunity Zone Justice Accelerator intensive program; night/weekend side hustle training sessions, urban agriculture business support as well as branding/marketing classes tailored specifically for justice involved communities. All programs are created with community and stakeholder input in mind to meet specific needs specific for justice involved communities.

Entrepreneurship: Examines the development and management of entrepreneurial firms from their initial creation through new product development, innovation management and staffing challenges. Includes Startup Weekend participation as well as Bloomberg terminals providing real-time financial data.

Technology

DCC is committed to equipping its students with all of the resources needed for success, including an extensive technological infrastructure encompassing 39 sites connected by an extensive network and system-owned fiber network, 28,800+ computers and Chromebooks for students, teachers and staff; numerous data systems like Skyward, Finance Plus Transportation FNS FNS; numerous other programs as well as future expandability – where early command control systems were restricted by analog technology, today’s NMRA DCC standards allow features which were never possible under previous circumstances – DCC fosters an environment which values respect for individuality while celebrating diversity among all participants in an inclusive community spirit that embraces individuality while accepting diversity among its membership.

Community

Students of DCC don’t just benefit from classroom education. Our student involvement programs enable them to make new friends and gain insight into government processes while developing invaluable lifelong skills.

Conklin Hall offers on-campus housing that’s conveniently close to classrooms, student services and dining. Our student housing staff strives to create a welcoming and safe environment that enables our residents to thrive.

DCC students have an opportunity to give back to the community through its volunteer activities program. Students collaborate closely with local agencies in various areas of service, and also act as ambassadors, attending local advisory boards and meetings on behalf of DCC.
